I was a flag escort at a FACET ceremony

On April 30, 2025 I lived a moment I won’t forget: I was a flag escort at a ceremony of the FACET (UNT). The designation came from being part of the FACET Honor Roll for the 2023 academic year, since the same list that recognizes the top averages also designates the faculty’s flag bearers and escorts.

Carrying a flag at an official ceremony is a responsibility and an honor; it’s one of those things that, while you’re still taking classes, you never imagine will happen to you, and suddenly you find yourself standing there, representing your faculty. After so many years, having graduated and being part of a moment like this put a special finishing touch on a whole chapter: a way to thank, through actions, the institution that shaped me. Thank you to FACET for the distinction, and to my family for being there —once again— on an important day. These are the things you carry with you forever. 🇦🇷
